Lynda.com SRT Maker插件简介
Lynda.com SRT Maker Lynda.com SRT Maker
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
===================
UNFORTUNATELY, due to changes in the design of Lynda.com (since months ago already) it is not impossible to remake this extension. Because not only the design changed, but also they don’t provide all the transcripts (text which is spoken on the vids, the subs) to make the SRTs and the ZIPs.
So I actually DON’T have a way to make it. Sorry, guys. I hope you could enjoy it while it worked fine.
Maybe you can try to explore Lynda.com before they make the changes to the site (try to explore Lynda.com’s 2013 version or such) with the use of The Internet Wayback Machine (https://archive.org/web/)
I’m not sure it will work because Wayback Machine caches content from sites but not requests. And to get transcripts, still at that time Lynda.com did them through AJAX.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
————–
The longly awaited!
Lynda.com has redesigned the site so I had to make some changes to this extension.
First of all, the good’all transcript section STILL exists in their servers.
It’s just they don’t give the link to you anymore (I don’t know why, though).
Anyways, now you just have to get into a course, and wait for the “Go to Subtitles!” button to appear (next to the course title), so once you click it, there’s the subtitles page again, with the already known 2 useful buttons to Generate & Download as Zip respectively.
I made some UI changes so my buttons go along with the look’n’feel of the site itself.
————————————————-
WHAT is this extension for?:
—————————
This extension allows users to download captions for video-courses as individual SRT (subtitle) files.
So they can use these subtitle files on their video-course files.
With this extension, you can download subtitles either individually as an SRT file o also as an organized ZIP file.
This ZIP file is internally structured into folders.
Each folder inside the ZIP file represents a chapter, and inside each folder there are SRT files corresponding to the topics for each of the chapters in the course.
Once installed, you are ready to go. Read below!
***************************************************************
HOW TO USE this Chrome extension:
——————————–
1. Go to Lynda.com site.
2. Enter into a course page (i.e: http://www.lynda.com/Facebook-tutorials/Building-Facebook-Applications-with-HTML-JavaScript/93082-2.html).
3. Go to the Transcript section.
Wait the page to load and 2 buttons will appear:
“Generate subtitles” and “Download all subs as ZIP..”
4. Press the “Generate subtitles” button.
A BIG table of contents will appear, organized into chapters and topics. Each topic has its respective “Download as SRT…” button, which is (I think) self-explanatory.
5. Now all the subtitles have been internally generated, you’re able to hit on the “Download all subs as ZIP…” button. Do it!
***************************************************************
ASSUMING you already have the video files for the course,
Here is HOW TO USE these SRT files:
———————————-
1. Use VLC player, which is a kickass video player. [OPTIONAL]
2. Open up your video file (i.e: “01. Introduction.mov”).
3. Now extract (into a folder) the contents of the ZIP file you just downloaded in earlier steps and look for the corresponding SRT (note the hyerarchical structure of this ZIP corresponds to the course’s T.o.C)
4. Once you located the right SRT file, just drag it onto the video player and you should be done. The video should play and subs should be visible along with it.
5. Enjoy!
